Breaking the spell

S

he has the look. But the doors to the entertainment industry opened up for Franda right after she won an award at a video jockey contest.

er pretty face was all over TV stations right after she bagged the Viewer’s Choice Award at the MTV VJ Hunt back in 2007.

The competition opened up a challenging opportunity for the 24-year-old, making her the host of different TV shows, from the political program Democrazy and the music show The Hits to sports programs like Lensa Olahraga (Sports Lens) and Total Football.

And recently, she took up a new challenge — securing a leading role in the drama Xia Aimei. There she brushes shoulders with more senior actors like Ferry Salim, Olga Lydia, Samuel Rizal and Shareefa Danish.

In the drama flick, she portrays a young Chinese woman trapped in a trafficking syndicate while trying to help her family escape poverty.

Acting is probably her new passion but Franda decided to take up the path by holding true to her principles — not to bare her body or do sultry scenes.
