AKARTA: Mesuji resident Ajar Etikana has asked for protection from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) after the police declared him a suspected vandal and arsonist involved in the attack on PT Barat Selatan Makmur Investido (BSMI).
“I have asked LPSK to assist me in the case,” Ajar said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Saturday. He said he had received a police summons to be questioned on Monday in relation to the incident.
Hundreds of people reportedly burned down BSMI’s office last month in a show of frustration for failing to reach an agreement over a land dispute with the company.
“I was summoned as a suspect on Monday,” Ajar said.
A riot had previously broke out on Nov. 10 last year, leaving one resident dead and injuring six others when a protest turned violent and clashes broke out between villagers and police personnel.
