est Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan was reported to have proposed for permanent suspension of graft convicts Eep Hidayat and Mochtar Mohammad from their positions as Subang regent and Bekasi mayor.
Spokesperson Ruddy Gandakusumah said that the proposal had been submitted on April 5 to the Home Ministry.
He said the ministry had agreed to the proposal.
“We have been told to pick the letter that rules their suspension at the ministry,” he said when contacted by phone on Monday.
Eep and Mochtar were initially acquitted from all charges before the Supreme Court (MA) overturned the verdicts and found both guilty of their respective crime in different cases.
Eep was handed 5 year imprisonment and Mochtar 6 years. Both is serving their jail term in Sukamiskin prison in Bandung. Ruddy said the issue would have to be deliberated by legislative members.
