AKARTA: The Indonesian Shopping Center Association (APPBI) expects to book Rp 10 trillion (US$1.08 billion) in total transactions during the one- and-a-half-month annual shopping festival Jakarta Great Sale, which began on Friday.
“With discounts up to 70 percent, with the concept we hope this festival will attract both domestic and international tourists,” said the chairman of the association’s Jakarta chapter, Handaka Santosa, after the launch of the great sales campaign at the Epicentrum Walk shopping mall, Kuningan, South Jakarta.
According to Handaka, the Great Sale, which is held as part of events to celebrate what he said that 73 shopping centers would participate in during this year’s event, up from 68 participants last year.
The participating malls include: Mal Taman Anggrek and Puri Indah Mall in West Jakarta; Mal Kelapa Gading and WTC Mangga Dua in North Jakarta; Arion Mall and Tamini Square in East Jakarta; Senayan City and Gajah Mada Plaza in Central Jakarta; and Gandaria City and Pejaten Village in South Jakarta.
