AKASSAR: Hasanuddin University (Unhas) intends to reduce its tuition fees by Rp 300,000 (US$32.4) per year per student as from next semester.
Unhas rector Idrus Paturusi said the decision to cut tuition fees was made after the Education and Culture Ministry announced it would distribute State University Operational Assistance Funds (BOPTN).
The House of Representatives has approved the assistance program and the funds will be disbursed this year. “With the assistance, we will reduce tuition fees by Rp 300,000 per year per student,” said Idrus.
The university’s tuition fees are currently Rp 1.5 million per year for exact science students, while non-exact science students pay Rp 1.2 million per year.
