Comment: Indonesia and awakening of Islam

S

strong>Sept. 5, p. 6

The Sampang incident — some say “tragedy” — was very unfortunate. I cannot help remembering the speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in July, during the Islamic Awakening Conference in Tehran.

“Our duty now is to humanize human beings, grab again the dignity of humankind. We, as human beings, particularly Muslims all around the world, have been forced into poverty, humiliation, torture, oppression. It is time for us to awaken, and rebuild our great civilization,” Ahmadinejad said. (By Sirikit Syah, Surabaya)

“Our duty now is to humanize human beings, grab again the dignity of humankind. We, as human beings, particularly Muslims all around the world, have been forced into poverty, humiliation, torture, oppression. It is time for us to awaken, and rebuild our great civilization,” Ahmadinejad said.

Of course he was talking about Muslims and to Muslims. Why would you quote from someone who wanted to destroy Israel from the face of the earth? Are the Israelis not human beings with dignity and so on?

Ahmadinejad won’t destroy any country and he has never wanted it. He has just recall us the crimes against Palestinians in the pretext of Holocaust. But the zionists who are behind every crime, war and occupation started propaganda against him to distract the attention of people from the reality.
