akarta Health Agency has said that the number of dengue fever cases in the city is decreasing.
Agency chief Dien Emmawati said that from January to November this year, a total of 6,457 cases were recorded, lower than the 6,757 cases recorded in the same period last year.
“This means that the eradication of mosquito nests by the juru pemantau jentik (jumantik — voluntary larvae controllers) has been working well,” she said as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Sunday.
She said that the highest numbers of dengue cases were found in Central Jakarta, followed South Jakarta, East Jakarta, West Jakarta and North Jakarta.
She added that the capital also saw few dengue cases during the rainy season. In August, there were 313 cases in the capital, 190 cases in September, 159 cases in October and 163 cases in November.
In addition to the eradication efforts, Dien also said that people had started to improve their way of life.
