he Indonesian national soccer team, in its preparations for the Asian Cup 2015 qualifiers, was held to a 0-0 draw by Pro Duta FC in a friendly on Saturday.
The team managed to create a flurry of goal chances but none of them were converted to goals.
Team coach Nil Maizar said the game plan had worked, although he conceded he needed to further sharpen the forward attacking.
“This first warm-up game ran as expected. We need to work on the attack as well as shore up the defense,” he said.
The Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) will choose 23 of 52 shortlisted players for qualifying; although, due to a dispute among the country’s soccer authorities, only 27 of those invited have so far arrived in Medan to undergo training.
“We will go with what we have to Jordania,” Nil said. Indonesia will face Iraq in Jordania on Feb. 6 in Group C, which also includes China and Saudi Arabia.
