16-year-old girl identified as DR is allegedly carrying her biological father’s unborn child.

The teenager from Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, has allegedly been repeatedly raped by her father, identified as RU, since she was 6 years old, with the last incident taking place on Oct. 10, 2012.

The South Jakarta Police said on Tuesday that RU had threatened to expel DR, who is reportedly suffering from depression due to her condition, from home if she refused his advances or told anyone.

In early March, DR was aware that her body had changed and reported it to her uncle, who took her to a hospital, where it was revealed that she was five months pregnant.

As a result, DR was forced to tell her uncle about the sexual abuse.

“Based on a medical examination and the testimony of witnesses, we discovered that the father was the perpetrator,” South Jakarta Police chief detective Adj. Sr. Comr. Hermawan said on Tuesday.

“DR’s mother is mentally ill, that’s why she could not help the victim.”

DR, who did not graduate elementary school, is the oldest of five children.

The police assured that the other children had not been subjected to the same experience.

RU, who has been named a suspect, is charged with Article 81 of the 2002 Child Protection Law, and faces up to a 15-year prison term if found guilty, and Article 46 of the 2004 Domestic Violence Law, which carries a maximum 12-year prison term.

Meanwhile, in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, a 3-year-old boy identified as MAS was allegedly raped by 17-year-old boy identified as A who was hired by MAS’ parents a month ago to take care of him while they were at work.

MAS’ father is a bus driver and the mother is a food vendor. The boy is the youngest of two children.

His parents’ suspicions were roused when he complained to his grandmother of pain in the rectum, she later found out that her grandson had been allegedly abused by A.

MAS’ father, identified as S, confronted A, who eventually admitted to have raped his son twice.

“I then reported [the sexual assault] to the East Jakarta Police,” S said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

S took his soon to a hospital for a medical examination, the results confirmed that the boy had experienced rectal sexual intrusion.

However, A absconded while the family reported him to the police.

The East Jakarta Police are still pursuing A, who is still at large.

The number of child abuse cases has reached an alarming level in Greater Jakarta, with 2,637 cases reported last year — 1,075 of these cases had some sexual dimension.

University of Indonesia psychologist Mayke S. Tedjasaputra said a pedophile generally had an inferiority complex issue, “that’s why they were more confident and powerful when facing a child”.

However, Mayke said she did not want to speculate about what had encouraged a father to rape his own daughter.
