Hysteria: Fans of South Korean boyband BigBang swoon while watching the giant screen outside the Kakao Talk X BigBang event venue at the Jakarta International Expo (JI Expo) in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Friday

After a successful concert in October last year, South Korean sensation BigBang returned to Jakarta to greet fans in hall C at the Jakarta Fair Ground, Central Jakarta, on Friday.
The event, billed as KakaoTalk X BigBang in Jakarta, was attended by only four members of the group, including T.O.P, Taeyang, Seungri and Daesung as frontman G-Dragon is currently on a solo tour in Japan.
But the incomplete formation did not lessen the enthusiasm of BigBang's fans, who are known as VIPs.
Thousands of fans were lined up at the venue from as early as Thursday night, all vying for the chance to meet their idols.
Yaya, 22, a recent graduate of Gadjah Mada University, says she took the train from Yogyakarta at 1 a.m. and arrived at the venue at 8 a.m.
'When I got here there were so many fans already lined up. Many of them told me that the organizers had already reached the quota of 1,000 free entries, but I waited anyway,' she told The Jakarta Post.
Unfortunately, Yaya and around 1,000 other VIPs were limited to a glimpse of the fan meet through two giant screens outside the venue.
The fan meet was held after the success of a KakaoTalk TV commercial starring BigBang members and Indonesian actress-singer Sherina.
The TV ads had generated up to 120,000 daily registers of the mobile messenger service, or a 3,000 percent growth in 10 days after the TV commercial was launched in late March.
The organizers provided only 1,100 free entries, 1,000 of which were distributed on the day of the event to fans who showed the activated KakaoTalk application on their cell phones, while the remaining 100 were distributed through social media quizzes.
During around the one-hour event, some lucky fans got signed CDs after participating in a game that required them to perform BigBang's 'Fantastic Baby' dance.
Some enthusiastic fans made 'impromptu attacks' on BigBang members by hugging them.
However, that did not darken the mood of the group members as they continued to cater to fans by singing along and dancing to songs that were repeatedly played on the blarring sound system.
Estianna, a 22-year-old Bogor resident, said she was satisfied with the fan meet as she was able to hug T.O.P.
'I waited for them since yesterday, my efforts paid off.'
