National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto said to date 27 employees were still trapped in the rubble.
Tons of rock engulfed the site on Tuesday morning trapping 41 workers ' not 32 as reported previously ' who were taking part in safety training inside the facility.
'All related parties are still trying to rescue the remaining 27 victims. We will investigate the cause of the accident, but for now we are still focusing on the rescue operation,' Agus said at the National Police headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Freeport Indonesia corporate communications VP Daisy Primayanti earlier said that the firm had reported the incident respectively to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the Mining Inspector.
