A

plan by the Tangerang District Court to execute its verdict on a 75-hectare plot of land in Pagedangan district in Tangerang failed to materialize onThursday due to resistance by security officers from PT Summarecon, which controls the land.

The situation grew tense when security officers, assisted by up to 500 members of a mass organization brandishing sharp bamboo sticks, wooden blocks and stones, blocked access to the disputed land.

Romo Sudar, a representative of the Tan Hok Tjio family who claimed the land, said that the Tan Hok Tjio heirs had won the dispute over the land following the Supreme Court'€™s decision in favor of a
lawsuit filed by the Tan Hok Tjio family.

The 75-hectare land is located in four villages -- Cihuni, Cibayur, Curug Sangereng and Bojong Nanka in Pagedangan district.

'€œThe execution today has been approved by the district court and the Tangerang regency precinct police. But the police then issued an order to postpone the execution for security reasons,'€ Romo said.

According to Romo, the Tan Hok Tjio family'€™s struggle began in 1940 when they claimed the land
