he Attorney General's Office (AGO) has been accused of violating human rights in investigating a case involving US-based oil and gas giant Chevron Indonesia.
National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) commissioner Natalius Pigai told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday that Komnas HAM would report its findings to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the House of Representatives and the Judicial Commission.
'We have found at least four aspects of human rights violations in the case,' he said.
The alleged violations include the incarceration of Chevron's operations chief in Sumatra, Bachtiar Abdul Fatah, on Friday.
Bachtiar was arrested after he was freed last year by the South Jakarta District Court following his detention for his alleged involvement in fraudulent practices on an environmental project.
AGO prosecutors detained Bachtiar despite the court's decision, claiming that the agency has yet to receive a copy of the verdict.
Three other of Chevron Pacific Indonesia workers face trial in the same case, charged with fabricating the project and causing US$9.9 million in state losses.
