T

he Multi Donor Funds for Aceh and Nias (MDF) is displaying its work on post-disaster recovery in a permanent exhibit at the Tsunami Museum in Banda Aceh.

'€œWith the exhibit, we want to share knowledge on reconstruction and disaster resilience,'€ MDF deputy manager T.Safriza Sofyan said.

Aceh Governor Zaini Abdullah opened the exhibit on Tuesday.

The exhibit, which is on the second floor of the museum, shows how the MDF was established and lesson-learned from the reconstruction.

'€œThe exhibit reminds us how partnerships can create a better future,'€ said Governor Zaini.

The MDF reconstructed and rehabilitated an approximately 20,000 houses, more than 500 local government offices and village/town halls, and nearly 700 schools.

It also repaired vital transportation networks, including five ports, over 600 kilometer of national and provincial roads, more than 250-kilometers district roads, and more than 3,000 kilometers village roads.

The MDF was set up by the World Bank with US$655 million of resources provided by 15 donors, including the European Union which contributed $271.3 million. (nai/ebf)
