Hinduism offers peace, harmony and tolerance

t'€™s high time for Hindus in Indonesia and all over the world to return to the core of Hindu philosophy, which promotes wisdom, love, harmony, peace and joy.

In his keynote speech during the first day of the second World Hindu Summit held at Ksirnawa Arts Center in Denpasar on Friday morning, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik also called on Hindu High Priests and leaders to continue teaching their followers the real values of life in accordance with Hinduism.

'€œThe present world condition has drifted many people, Hindu devotees in this case, from their spiritual beliefs to a more materialistic life in the pursuit of earthly temptations,'€ the minister elaborated.

Around 500 Hindu leaders and scholars from countries in Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Australia are taking part in the summit, which is being held from June 13 until June 17.

At Pura Samuan Tiga Temple in Gianyar regency on Thursday, Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Suryadarma Ali officially opened the four-day gathering.

The second World Hindu Summit is expected to make a breakthrough as it is expected to produce the World Hindu Parisad and World Hindu Center'€”both of which will expand the network of Hindu devotees around the globe.

The World Hindu Parisad will be an umbrella organization of a large variety of Hindu organizations aiming to create synergy for their various spiritual activities. Meanwhile, the World Hindu Center, to be based in Bali, is to become an organization that carries out the World Hindu Parisad programs.

The first Hindu Summit was held in Bali in 2012 and produced the Bali Charter, which among other things, proposed the establishment of the Hindu Parisad and Hindu Center.

Prior to the opening of the summit, chairman of the Indonesian Hindu Council (PHDI) Maj. Gen.ret S.N. Suwisma elaborated on the plan to establish the Hindu Parisad and Hindu Center.

'€œParticipating Hindu priests, leaders and academics will determine whether or not they agree with the Parisad format that committee members are proposing,'€ Suwisma said.

Suwisma said it was important to establish the World Hindu Parisad and Hindu Center during the second summit.
