adri Hartono, alias Toni, the leader of Al Qaeda Indonesia, was sentenced to 10 years in prison during a hearing at the West Jakarta District Court, on Thursday.

Presiding judge Musa Atif Aini said Badri was found guilty of being involved in terrorism.

'€œ['€¦] imposing a sentence of 10 years in prison on the defendant because he was convincingly proven guilty of the making of explosive devices and of military training,'€ said Musa, reading out the verdict, as quoted by Kompas.com. He said Badri violated Law No.15/2003 on terrorism eradication.

Badri was the leader of Al Qaeda Indonesia and planned several terror attacks in Jakarta. Badri and several of his group'€™s members mastered bomb-making techniques having attended terror training in Poso, Southeast Sulawesi.

Badri, who was arrested in Solo, was also said to be a follower of Bagus Budi Pranoto alias Urwah.

Urwah was a follower of Noordin Mohammad Top and was involved in the JW Mariott and Ritz Carlton bomb attacks on July 17, 2009.

Al Qaeda Indonesia'€™s network was uncovered when home-made bombs exploded in a house at Jl.Nusantara, Depok, West Java, in September 2012.

This group planned several terror attacks, including at the city police'€™s Mobile Brigade (Brimob) headquarters in Kwitang, Central Jakarta. It was also involved in an attack on Buddhist communities in Indonesia following a religious-based conflict in Myanmar. (fan/ebf)
