he National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) on Thursday decided to earmark 80 percent of government assistance to Aceh Tengah regency, which suffered the most during the recent earthquake in Aceh, and the remaining 20 percent to Bener Meriah regency.
"Both Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah regents have agreed with that aid ratio," BNPB spokesperson Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said in Jakarta as quoted by Antara news agency.
The earthquake, which measured 6.1 on the Richter scale on July 7, 2013, killed at least 35 people and damaged more than 4,300 houses and buildings.
According to Sutopo, the total number of evacuees has reached 52,113, with 32,129 evacuees in Aceh Tengah and 19,984 evacuees in Bener Meriah.
"We have distributed 180 family-size tents, 30 small-scale generator sets and 600 folding beds for the two regencies," he said.
"We also have distributed 66 emergency tents, 500 simple tents, 52 sleeping mats as well as 1,638 packages of ready-to-eat food and 1,218 packages of food," he added. (fan)
