he Yogyakarta City administrationhas announced it will use email for basic correspondence between its units. Theplan is part of the e-office program introduced in 2011.
'We will oblige all units within the city administration to use email for correspondence,
except for Puskesmas [community health centers],' chief of Yogyakarta city's
organization division, Kris Sarjono Sutejo, said on Sunday as quoted by Antara news
agency.
He said email would replace the usage of at least 17 types of official letters currently used by administrative units.
He expressed confidence that the plan would boost efficiency and reduce paperwork backlogs.
The city administration had also facilitated trainings for high-achieving employees as Internet administrators.
