tihad Airways, the national flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, and Garuda Indonesia have commenced new codeshare flights between Jakarta and Perth, the capital of Western Australia.
The daily nonstop flights, operated by the Indonesian flag carrier, began on June 28.
The new services have added an extra 2,184 seats each week for the Jakarta-Perth route.
Etihad Airways president and CEO James Hogan said the expanded codeshare program with Garuda was an exciting development that would deliver benefits to both airlines and their customers worldwide.
'The Jakarta-Perth route adds a new dimension to our partnership with Garuda, which has developed in a mutually beneficial way since our signing last October ' particularly in terms of operational and cost efficiencies.
'The codeshare program with Garuda to Perth demonstrates the effectiveness of our partnership strategy, enabling Etihad Airways to continue its expansion in Australia and to contribute to tourism and economic growth.'
