strong>TheCorruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has imposed a travel ban for thesecretary-general of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry WaryonoKarno inrelation to a bribe scandal implicating suspended head ofUpstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force Rudi Rubiandini.
'The travel ban was issued on Thursday. Waryono is banned from going oversees in the next six months,' Immigration Directorate General Spokesman Heriyanto said, confirming the travel ban on Friday, as quoted by Kompas.com.
When confirmed whether Waryono was currently in Singapore, he said that he had yet to hear about that.
'I have yet to receive such information, but I will check it out,' Heriyanto said.
The allegation of Waryono's involvement in a bribe case implicating Rudi, who was arrested on Aug. 14 for allegedly accepting bribes totaling US$700,000 from Singapore-based oil trader Kernel Oil, emerged after the KPK seized US$200,000 during a raid at his office the day after Rudi's arrest.
The commission plans to question Waryono regarding the money but has yet to determine a specific date for that. (hrl)
