he West Jakarta police arrested the henchman of underworld kingpin Hercules Rozario Marshal, Ferdinan Kili-Kili, a few seconds after he was released from the Jakarta police detention center at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
"The arrest follows up reports of extortion made by several people," West Jakarta police detectives chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Hengki Haryadi, told reporters at the city police headquarters on Wednesday.
He said that according to the reports, Ferdinan was behind a string of extortions dating back to 2006.
"We have been investigated the case for the past three months," he said.
Dozens of fully armed police personnel wearing masks were on guard in front of the city police detention center. Two thug hunter team trucks from the city police's crime subdirectorate were also parked there.
"Previously, Ferdinan served a six-month jail term for harassing West Jakarta police personnel when the latter conducted their morning physical exercises," he said.
