Y

oung producer Kevin Aprilio wants to make something different. This time he is promoting a dangdut singer, Jeng Lee, through his label, Aprilio Kingdom.

To understand dangdut, a style of music loved by many Indonesians -- especially the middle- to low-income bracket -- Kevin has been busy researching and has consulted many people from all walks of life.

"I spoke with a lot of people, my parents [composer Addie MS and singer Memes], my driver'€¦," he said on Wednesday as quoted by kapanlagi.com.

"Dangdut is the music of the people, many businessmen love it. I trained my ears to like dangdut."

Since running his own label, Kevin has been interested in the potential of dangdut. Although a bit far-removed from his background in classical music, dangdut has a lot of potential, according to Kevin.
