he lawyer for Benget Situmorang, a man found guilty ofkilling his wife and dismembering her body, has filed a report with theJudicial Commission, charging the judges who presided over his client's trialof negligence.
Benget's lawyer, Edward Sihombing, said on Friday that he had reported the judges for their refusal to allow Benget's request to go to a hospital prior to his final trial session on Sept. 30.
The defendant died later that same day en route to hospital from Cipinang Penitentiary in East Jakarta.
'We reported the judges on Friday because the decision they took was inhumane. We recommend the commission discharge them should they be found guilty,' he said.
Edward added that the prison doctor had previously recommended the judges to permit Benget to visit a hospital to seek treatment for respiratory problems before commencing his final trial hearing.
'However, instead of being compassionate, the judges continued with the trial,' Edward said.
In March, Benget, 38, along with his alleged mistress, Tini, allegedly murdered his wife Darna Sri Astuti at his house. He then dismembered her body and scattered her body parts along the Cikampek toll road.
