Actress Laura Basuki says she likes to practice martial arts, especially Thai boxing, as a form of self-defense
ctress Laura Basuki says she likes to practice martial arts, especially Thai boxing, as a form of self-defense.
'I've been doing Thai boxing for years. I don't know why I like martial arts, maybe because I'm a bit of a tomboy,' she said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Laura decided to take up Thai boxing when she started to realize that many women were unable to defend themselves if they were abused or attacked.
'I think women have to be able to do martial arts as a self-defense. At least it will help to give them courage if they have to face something unpleasant,' said the actress who starred in Gara-gara Bola.
In addition, she said, Thai boxing was also beneficial in keeping her fit, as it strengthened her muscles and encouraged good, deep breathing.
