otedrocker Sawung Jabo will organize a concert dedicated to the pop singerGombloh, who died in 1988 from lung disease.
'Hewas an influential musician, it's sad that some youngsters don't know of him orhis music,' Jabo said on Saturday as quoted by tempo.co.
Hesaid the concert would be held at Plaza Surabaya's east parking lot on Nov. 27. Balinese rocker Ayu Laksmi, Boomerang front manRoy Jeconiah, singer Oppie Andarista and Surabaya's rock icon PowerMetal are among the scheduled performers.
'Everyperformer will be obliged to perform two songs, one must be a cover of aGombloh track,' Jabo said.
Gombloh,real name Sudjarwoto Soemarsono, was famous for his comedic lyrics andeasy listening pop tunes like in 'Setengah Gila' (Half Crazy), 'Di Radio'(In Radio). Some of his melodies contained patriotic lyrics like in 'Kebyar-kebyar'and 'Berita Cuaca' (weather prediction). (dic)
