KPK raids Palembang mayor'€™s residence, office

C

orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigatorssearched the Palembang mayor'€™s office and residence in relation to'€” former ConstitutionalCourt chief justice Akil Mochtar '€” one of their detainees.

'€œKPK investigators confiscated four cell phones, a Constitutional Court ruling, a letter from the Home Ministry and a copy of a transfer slip for Rp 500 million that belonged to my wife, Masito,'€ Mayor Romi Herton said on Tuesday.

He said he didn'€™t have anything to hide from the public and, therefore, fully supported the search conducted by KPK investigators.

'€œThe KPK investigation will prove my hands are clean,'€ he said.

The KPK is reportedly looking into 40 mayoral, regent and gubernatorial election disputes handled by Akil during his time as Constitutional Court chief justice.

Romi Herton lost the first election to the Sarimuda-Nely Rosdiana ticket in April this year but challenged the result with the Constitutional Court. The court then ruled in Romi'€™s favor. (dic)
