G

olkar Party politician Haris Andi Surahman will soonstand trial for his alleged role as a middleman in a bribery case centering onthe disbursement of the Regional Infrastructure Adjustment Fund (DPID) in 2010.

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesman Johan Budi said on Wednesday that the KPK had completed the Haris'€™ dossier.

'€œThe documents will be submitted to the court within a maximum 14 days,'€ he told a press conference at the KPK'€™s headquarters in Kuningan, South Jakarta.

Haris played the role of a whistle-blower when he revealed details about the role of former lawmaker Wa Ode Nurhayati in the graft case.

Nurhayati, a former member of the House of Representatives'€™ budgetary committee, is accused of accepting Rp 6.25 billion (US$536,000) in bribes from three businessmen to secure DPID funds.

The Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced Nurhayati to six years in prison for bribery and money laundering in October last year.

Nurhayati was found guilty of violating Article 12 of the 1999 Corruption Law on bribery for accepting bribes from three businessmen, Fahd El Fouz, Saul Paulus David Nelwan and Abram Noach Mambu.

The bribes were intended to secure DPID disbursements for three regencies in Aceh: Pidie Jaya, Bener Meriah and Aceh Besar.

The DPID is a temporary budget project that allocates funds to several less-developed regions.
