Malaysian weekly newspaper The Heat has been suspended indefinitely by the Malaysia's home ministry.
Its suspension is believed to be over a front-page article on Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor's expenditure.
The suspension was confirmed by its sister publication, news portal The Ant Daily on its website, announcing that The Heat had ceased publication in compliance with the ministry's suspension order.
The portal said that with the suspension, the news weekly would not be published on Dec. 21 as scheduled. 'We will keep our readers, subscribers and advertisers updated on further developments through this website, and other channels.
'Subscribers will be compensated accordingly, through an automatic extension of their subscription period,' it said.
The weekly, which focuses on politics, economics and social issues, was reported to have been issued a show-cause letter last week
