police officer identified as First Brig. Nurul Affandi was shot dead by anunidentified man who had allegedly tempted to steal a motorcycle in Bogor onFriday.
Nurul was eating at a small eatery when suddenly Bu Titien, the owner, told him someone suspicious was attempting to steal a motorcycle parked near her eatery, National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Ronny Franky Sompie said on Friday.
Nurul approached the man and asked him what was doing. The man backed away, but as he was leaving the scene he shot Nurul in the head. Nurul died instantly.
Ronny said a joint team of detectives from the Bogor Police office, the Jakarta and West Java Police headquarters had been appointed to pursue the perpetrator.
The latest death has added to a growing list of cop killings.(dic)
