'All things must be done with synergy and cooperation. It is impossible for us to work alone,' he said when asked to comment on the looming flood threat on Thursday.
Jokowi admitted the city was still burdened by dealing with the floods, which were triggered by heavy downpours in the city and satellite municipalities of Bekasi, Bogor, Depok and Cianjur in West Java and South Tangerang and Tangerang in Banten.
He said normalization projects in all rivers and reservoirs and the construction of thousands of percolation pits were still underway, while the administrations of Cianjur, Depok and Bogor regencies were expected to tear down all illegal buildings and build more reservoirs.
Bogor and Cianjur have promised to cooperate in maintaining Puncak as a water catchment area while Depok Mayor Nur Mahmudi has recommended that Jokowi purchase land to build lakes in the municipality.
