orontalo Governor Rusli Habibie was questioned foraround two hours by the local police as a witness in the defamation reportfiled by former Gorontalo Police chief Insp. Gen. Budi Waseso.
'I showed up to prove I am a law abiding citizen,' Rusli said on Friday.
The governor and Budi have been engaged in a longstanding feud that began last year.
Rusli's main complaint was that Budi was arrogant and unable to perform his duties.
Therefore, Rusli asked then-National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo to replace him with somebody more capable.
Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi and the House of Representative's Commission II on domestic affairs were also notified.
As a result, the National Police headquarters replaced Budi with Brig. Gen. Andjaya and promoted Budi to a two-star general and made him a lecturer at the police's leadership school.
From Budi's side, Rusli's anger originated from his own fear that the police might have him in their sights as a graft suspect in several graft cases.
