he police in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, arrestedmembers of a gang allegedly involved in a series of burglaries targetingupscale neighborhoods in the district, tribunnews.com reported.
According to the police's detective unit head, Adj. Comr. Chalid Thayib, the suspects wore suits and drove a luxurious car to deceive their victims.
'We arrested the suspects on Thursday. Their modus operandi was pretending to be visiting the owners of a house when their 'friends' were not in,' he said on Friday.
Chalid said that the suspects waited in the house and would send the maid to buy cigarettes before stealing jewelry, diamonds, cash, cell phones and computer tablets.
'They only took what they could carry easily,' Chalid said.
