'It has been proven that the defendant played significant roles in the graft case, by ordering his subordinates to find a contractor that would provide kickbacks worth 7 percent of the construction budget,' Presiding judge Agus Salim told the court on Wednesday.
The ruling, however, was lighter than the prosecutors' request of eight years in prison.
Beforehand, the same court also sentenced two people, Mandailing Natal regency official Khairul Anwar Daulay and contractor Surung Panjaitan to four-and-a-half, and two years and five months, respectively over the same allegations.(dic)
