The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) urged the government to revise the mineral-export tax regulation issued by the Finance Ministry recently, arguing that without a change, many miners would have to shut down their operations.

How can we be competitive? Might as well buy from Chile, Brazil, Thailand or wherever.
It's not that these miners don't want to build smelters, who can afford a smelter when one costs at least US$25 million? And why should all mines have smelters? Is Indonesia going to have 3,000 smelters for all 64 minerals then ' one for every mine?
