Jambi Police chief Brig. Gen. Satriya Hari Prasetya said the police were coordinating with the National Police's Densus 88 counterterrorism squad.
The five men involved in the robbery stole 20 kilograms of gold, worth around Rp 10 billion (US$824,000), from the Apolo gold shop.
The police apprehended the robbers in Jambi and Payakumbuh in West Sumatra; Sumedang in West Java; and Semarang in Central Java.
The police also confiscated one kilogram of gold, three cars, a motorcycle, Rp 216 million in cash, a land certificate for a 3-hectare plot of land in Batanghari, three bank books and an oxygen cylinder.
Among the robbers was Aman, the night security guard for the gold shop, who was believed to have masterminded the robbery.
Aman was arrested in December in Sumedang, the other suspects were not nabbed until January.
During questioning, Aman admitted that they planned the crime over two months and he had earned Rp 500 million from the robbery.
