upreme Court justice Gayus Lumbuun has said heappreciates the apology by TV presenter Deddy Corbuzier for a topic recentlydiscussed on Deddy's program Hitam Putihduring which singer-actress Julia Perez alleged that Gayus had accepted a bribeto put singer Dewi Perssik in jail.
Deddy apologized after Gayus filed a police report for defamation.
'I really appreciate the apology. But the sole reason behind my police report was to ask the police to determine who should be held responsible for such false information,' he told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
Gayus said the police report should serve as a warning to all media outlets to carefully consider all information before making it public to avoid legal problems.
'The media is advised to be very careful when handling information before sharing it with the public because it may affect somebody's life,' he said.
Gayus filed a report with the National Police on Wednesday against the allegation that he had accepted a Rp 700 million bribe to sentence singer Dewi Perssik to three months in jail.
Dewi was jailed after the Supreme Court overruled decisions by the East Jakarta District Court and the Jakarta High Court to sentence Dewi to four months' probation.
Dewi was involved in quarrel with Julia Perez at a film location. Both actresses reported each other to the police for alleged assault.
