akarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo surveyed on Thursday an 18.5-hectare plot of land in Pondok Rangon, Cipayung, Jakarta Timur, where three reservoirs are being built.
In between his blusukan (impromptu visits), Jokowi said the three reservoirs are being built simultaneously in the area bordering with Bekasi, West Java. The reservoirs will measure different sizes of 11.5 hectares, 5 hectares, and 2 hectares.
'The reservoirs are being constructed by the Public Works Agency. My estimate is that it can be done in six months,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Jokowi said the three reservoirs, which will be five- to six-meters deep, will have a total capacity of 550,000 cubic meters of water.
The three reservoirs are expected to minimize flooding along the Sunter River, which will be the source of water for the three reservoirs.
'Insya Allah (God Willing), areas such as Halim, Kelapa Gading and Cipinang will no longer experience flooding once the reservoirs are completed,' he said.
