Head of Central Java Energy and Mineral Resources Agency, Teguh Dwi Paryono, said that his team was continuing to monitor Mt. Slamet as it was still potentially volatile as of Thursday.
The 3,426 meter volcano remained at the third highest warning status, waspada (alert).
Separately, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo issued circulars asking five administrations situated near the volcano to evacuate their residents to areas outside a radius of two kilometers from the volcano. The five regencies are Tegal, Pemalang, Brebes, Banyumas and Purbalingga.
