foreign plane, which has been grounded for four days after entering Indonesian airspace without authorization, was released on Sunday after its pilot and owner paid a fine of Rp 60 million (US$5,256).
The red civil aircraft, which was flown by Swiss national Heinz Pieter, took off from Soewondo Air Force Base in Medan, North Sumatra, at 9:45 a.m. heading toward Seletar Airport in Singapore.
'He fulfilled his obligation in paying the fine, so we permitted him to fly,' Soewondo air base deputy chief Lt. Col. Yani Prasetyo told reporters after watching the plane taking off.
Before takeoff, the 65-year-old Pieter underwent a medical checkup and signed some documentation. He also purchased Rp 6 million worth of fuel from Pertamina for his plane.
The Swearingen SX-300 aircraft was intercepted last Thursday by two Indonesian Air Force F-16 fighter jets and forced to land.
Pieter admitted that he was unaware he had entered Indonesian airspace.
