otorcycle manufacturer PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) captured a 63 percent share of the nation's motorcycle market in the first quarter of the year as it sold 1,254,662 motorbikes throughout the country.
AHM deputy general manager for sales Thomas Wijaya said the achievement was supported by the company's commitment to promoting Programed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) products and improving its after-sales service.
"Throughout the first quarter of 2014, we were active in promoting the PGM-FI products," Thomas said in Jakarta on Tuesday as quoted by Antara state news agency.
He said that scootic models still dominated Honda's motorbike sales during January-March 2014 amounting to 904,445 units or 70.7 percent of scootic national sales.
Meanwhile, in the under-bones category, the firm sold 226,115 units or 53.2 percent of the country's under-bones sales.
In the sports-type motorbike category, AHM sold 124,102 units.
According to Indonesia Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (AISI) data 1,990,375 units of motorbikes were sold in the country between January and March this year, up by 1 percent compared to the same period last year. (nfo)
