he Corruption EradicationCommission (KPK) has summoned former National Mandate Party (PAN) chiefSoetrisno Bachir as a witness in the money-laundering case implicating TubagusChaeri 'Wawan' Wardhana, the sibling of Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah.
'I am summoned here as a witness for Wawan,' Soetrisno said as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
Soetrisno said he was questioned regarding a plot of land that used to be jointly owned by him and former finance minister, and now party member, Fuad Bawazier. Wawan bought the land for Rp 2 billion (US$174,889) in 2007.
The 443-square-meter plot is located in South Jakarta and it is apparently among Wawan's properties that are suspected by KPK investigators of being related to money-laundering activities.
Previously KPK investigators had also summoned Fuad Bawazier as a witness.
Wawan is being detained in relation to an alleged Rp 1 billion bribe given to former Constitutional Court chief justice Akil Mochtar through lawyer Susi Tur Handayani. KPK investigators have also named him a suspect in a medical-equipment procurement graft case in Banten province.(idb/dic)
