panel of Muara Tebo District Court judges has sentenced a man identified asSuherman bin Samsudin to 17 years in prison after he was found guilty ofmurdering a student identified as Dahrima Yunita in October last year.

'€œThe ruling is in line with the indictment that the defendant was guilty of violating the Criminal Code by committing premeditated murder,'€ presiding judge Kamijon said on Wednesday.

The trial went smoothly until members of the victim'€™s family attempted to attack the defendant shortly after the verdict was read. An eye witness, identified as Doni praised the police'€™s quick response in protecting the defendant from the angry mob.

'€œThank God they were able to get to him first before the angry mob did,'€ he said.(dic)
