After quick counts indicated the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) as the winner in last week's legislative election, the party claims it has fallen victim to a smear campaign launched by rivals vying to undermine the party and its presidential candidate, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo.

Please give Jokowi a chance to lead us this time. He may be inexperienced but remember that the presidency is a team effort ' as long as the Cabinet members are good, honest and capable people, that matters most for achieving a great Indonesia.
Jokowi is always prepared to listen to anyone from different social strata, religious beliefs and political streams without letting himself be dictated to as many doubters claim.
Gone are the days when we had to devote ourselves to only one leader in a personality cult and stood firmly behind somebody without reservation. And please remember nobody in Indonesia can now just arrange for the disappearance of Jokowi as happened to not a few Indonesians in 1998.
The person behind that action could well be nominated as a defense minister.
