AKARTA: State-run toll-road operator PT Jasa Marga, on behalf of the government, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday with four Asian toll-road companies from Malaysia, Korea and Japan to speed up toll-road construction in Indonesia.
The companies are CMS Works International Limited (Malaysia), POSCO Engineering & Construction (Korea), the West Nippon Expressway Company Limited (Japan) and the Japan Expressway International Company Limited.
Deputy Public Works Minister Achmad Hermanto Dardak, who is also the president of the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA), welcomed the signing of the agreement.
'This MoU will help speed up the development of Indonesia's toll roads,' Hermanto said in Nusa Dua, Bali, on the sidelines of an international seminar on sustainable road and green technology, as reported by kontan.co.id.
He said Indonesia had to increase its cooperation with other REAAA members, comprising Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Jasa Marga's president director, Adityawarman, said the three countries would be strategic partners in developing road infrastructure nationwide.
