Throughout its history, Indonesia has witnessed two tragedies resulting in massacres
hroughout its history, Indonesia has witnessed two tragedies resulting in massacres. The first was on Sept. 30, 1965 and the second on May 13, 1998. We have to resolve them now so that the ghosts can rest in peace.
To resolve Sept. 30, 1965, we have to find those who gave direct instructions to kidnap the seven officers.
We must open national archives to study official correspondence among departments and the Presidential Palace from June 1965 to Oct. 20, 1965.
Regarding May 1998, we have to be fair. It's time to conduct investigations regarding the coordination of the security of demonstrations around Trisakti University, May 1998; the first Semanggi incident in November 1998; and the second Semanggi incident in September 1999. This nation has laws.
Everybody is equal no matter whether you are part of the military or a civilian.
