he Sumatra Technology Institute (ITERA), whichis affiliated with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), has opened its campus in Jatiagung subdistrict in South Lampung regency after the first phase of construction had been finished.
The institute joins two other technology campuses in the country, ITB and the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology in Surabaya.
ITB-ITERA construction project chief Wawan Gunawan said ITERA already had nine schools, including a civil engineering and urban planning school, but now finally had its own campus. It accepted two batches of students, in 2012 and 2013, which totaled 75 and 44 students respectively.
'Currently, our students are studying at ITB's compound in Jatinangor in Sumedang, West Java,' he said on Wednesday.
Arinal Junaidi, acting regional secretary for Lampung province, said the whole construction project of ITERA compound would cover a total 285 hectares, which was granted by the local administration after Lampung Governor Sjachroedin Z.P. lobbied the central government.
'We also are providing scholarships to 40 students from the first batch,' he said. (gda)
