A Golkar Party official said the party intended to discipline members who broke ranks to support the Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo-Jusuf Kalla ticket as Golkar had formally announced its support for Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa.
At the last minute, Golkar joined a coalition with the Gerindra Party, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Mandate Party (PAN).
The coalition accounts for 45.3 percent of seats in the next House of Representatives and 47.54 percent of votes cast in the legislative election.

I have a strong feeling that the end of Aburizal Bakrie is near and eventually his own party, Golkar,
will throw him in the mud and let him sink.
Can you really believe that the big guys in Golkar will accept and continue to keep quiet watching their party be destroyed by their incompetent chairman?
Golkar was solid under Akbar Tandjung and Kalla.

Kudos to the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) coalition, especially to Surya Paloh for this excellent move.
Now it's checkmate for Golkar and I hope they dismiss him. The saying that 'pride comes before a fall' is very true.

Aburizal should have led by example. He sold his soul very cheaply without even considering the future of the party.

Golkar is on the verge of serious damage. It had better conduct a national congress to ask the party chairman who is responsible as more and more party members lack discipline.

It's Golkar's own fault. The party should not have made him a candidate.

It looks like Golkar is going to fall apart... not surprised at all... it was 38 percent for Jokowi in April and it could be a lot more by now.

The ongoing infighting within Golkar only demonstrates its poor uncompromising leadership, which could put the party on a path to self-destruction.
It would be good for the party to look in a dictionary for the meaning of the word democracy: 'Of the people, for the people, by the people'.
Golkar truly needs to do some soul-searching and get rid of its ridiculous Javanese attitudes of seniority, and not making decisions or being impolite.
Start to think about the real issue here: Indonesia!
The party wants to propose a presidential candidate and form a coalition government? It cannot even stop its childish infighting, year after year, and has learnt nothing from its incompetence. No wonder Jokowi and Kalla don't want anything to do with it.
Simply debate the issues, put the leadership to a vote and everybody 'needs to toe the line'.
