Presidential hopeful Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla announced they would reduce the fuel subsidy by Rp 60 trillion (US$ 5.16 billion) if they were elected, to reduce the burden on the state budget.

Your comments:

This unpopular, non-populist proposal is another piece of evidence of Jokowi'€™s political courage and honesty, with no hidden agenda.

Such characteristics, I hope, will result in continuous public trust and confidence in his administration'€™s economic programs.

James Waworoendeng

I hope so. But the most important thing is winning the election.

I agree with you Jokowi, fuel prices in Indonesia are in fact too low compared to other countries.

Don'€™t spoil Indonesians with very cheap gas, otherwise they will keep taking private cars everywhere; they will stay lazy!
