ire raged in the house of the late Muslim preacherJeffry 'Uje' al-Buchory on Jl. Narmada III in Rempoa, Ciputat, South Tangerang,on Friday morning at 3 a.m.
The late preacher's widow, Pipik Dian Irawatim, along with their children, Abidzar Al Ghifari and Attaya Bilal Rizkillah, jumped from the second floor to save themselves from the fire.
'When I woke up at 3:30 a.m., I smelled smoke, and felt the heat in the house,' Pipik told reporters, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
She said that when she opened the door of her bedroom, smoke rushed into her room. She then ran to her children's bedroom to try and save them.
After reaching her children, she took them to the second floor window.
'In a panic, my children and I jumped through the second floor window. That was the best thing I could do to save us,' she said.
She said she lost everything in the fire. 'The most important thing is that my children are safe,' she added.
According to Uje's mother, Umi Tatu Mulyana, a short circuit was likely the cause of the fire. She added that the police were still investigating the case.
