ive students from public high school SMA 3 were detained for further investigations on Tuesday after they were declared suspects for allegedly physically assaulting on their junior during a recent mountain climbing outing in the Tangkuban Perahu area of West Java.
City Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the five ' identified as DW, TM, AM, KR and PU ' were being held at the police's detention center.
'After arresting them, we will again question the teachers who accompanied the participants in the school's outdoor activity,' he said.
The case arose after Arfiand Caesar Al Irhami, a 16-year-old junior student, died on June 20, 2014, following medical treatment at the Metropolitan Medical Center (MMC) Hospital in Kuningan, Central Jakarta last week, for injuries reportedly sustained during the mountain climbing trip. Three other juniors are still undergoing medical treatment in Jakarta and Bandung, and their parents have already filed police reports regarding abuse allegedly perpetrated against them during the outing.
